Aydan Nix is Mohamed Hadid’s daughter and the paternal half-sister of Gigi and Bella Hadid. The sisters publicly confirmed their relationship in May 2025, saying they first connected with Nix in late 2023. That is roughly a year and a half before the public announcement—not exactly one year.
Who is Aydan Nix?
Nix is the daughter of Mohamed Hadid and Terri Hatfield Dull. She is a paternal half-sister to Gigi and Bella Hadid. The family confirmed the relationship in a statement reproduced by Biography.com and other outlets.
Nix grew up in Florida with the man she knew as her father. The sisters’ statement said Mohamed Hadid had a brief relationship while single more than 20 years earlier, which led to a pregnancy.
How did Gigi and Bella Hadid find out they had a half-sister?
According to the sisters’ account, Nix took a genetic test out of curiosity after the death of the man she had known as her father. She was 19 at the time, and the test revealed a biological connection to the Hadids. The published accounts do not identify the test provider or product, or give further detail about the result.

The sisters said they first connected with Nix in late 2023. “We first connected in late 2023, and from that moment on, we’ve embraced Aydan with open arms,” they said in the statement reproduced by Biography.com.
When did the family make the relationship public?
Gigi and Bella confirmed the relationship publicly in late May 2025. Their statement described Nix spending time with the family, including her father, and asked the public to respect her privacy. The May 29, 2025 announcement came about a year and a half after the sisters said they had first connected with her.
Us Weekly quoted an unnamed source who characterized the delay as a decision to protect Nix’s privacy. That explanation was attributed to the source, rather than stated directly by the sisters as their reason for waiting.
What has Nix said about joining the Hadid family?
In January 2026, Marie Claire covered Nix’s first-person essay for The Cut about entering a family with five siblings. She described her siblings as warm and generous while also writing about feeling like an outsider: they shared a childhood and memories she had not been part of. Her account adds a personal perspective to the family’s brief public statement.

Later coverage describes Nix as a Parsons graduate and wardrobe stylist. In September 2025, she appeared at the Desigual Studio FW25 show in Barcelona. EL PAÍS reported that she closed the show wearing a dress marked “Why?”, which the paper described as a message about Palestinian suffering.
The public accounts establish the family relationship, the broad timeline and Nix’s own reflections. They do not identify a particular genetic-testing service or provide grounds for inferring further private family details.
