How Amelia fits into Brett’s family
Brett was adopted and had a complicated relationship with her biological mother, Julie. According to the One Chicago Center explainer, Brett and Julie rebuilt their relationship around the time Julie was pregnant with Amelia. Julie died from complications during childbirth, and Brett’s father, Scott, took Amelia in. Brett remained in touch with her younger half-sister.
Why Amelia’s wedding appearance matters
Amelia had appeared earlier in season 10’s “Fog of War,” according to the One Chicago Center explainer. In that episode, Casey took Brett and Amelia to the Shedd Aquarium. The explainer says Brett later told Casey that the outing helped her recognize that he would make a good father. Her presence at the wedding brings that memory back as Brett and Casey begin their life together as a family.

Where to find the wedding clips
NBC’s official Chicago Fire page lists wedding-related clips titled “Brettsey Get Married” and “Jesse Spencer and Kara Killmer on the Brettsey Wedding.” The NBC listing establishes the wedding-related videos, but it does not provide an episode synopsis or confirm the episode number in the available page information. The two recaps place the wedding in season 12, episode 6.
