Studio82’s reported deal to adapt Battle in the Box for the U.S. is not confirmed by the available reporting. Two reports published on 26 September 2024 identified STV Studios-owned Interstellar TV as the U.S. rights licensee. The sources reviewed do not establish whether Studio82 later became involved, or whether a U.S. version was commissioned.
Who holds the reported U.S. adaptation rights?
C21Media reported on 26 September 2024 that Interstellar TV had licensed U.S. adaptation rights to Battle in the Box. A same-day report from Television Asia Plus also identified Interstellar. Neither report named Jenny Daly’s Studio82 as the licensee. C21Media’s report and Television Asia Plus’s account document that announcement.
That reporting does not prove a later Studio82 agreement could not have happened; it means the claim in the title is not established by these sources. Studio82’s official team page identifies Jenny Daly as the company’s founder and CEO, but does not mention Battle in the Box or an adaptation deal.
What is Battle in the Box?
Created by South Korea’s Nmedia, Battle in the Box is a comedy-entertainment format that combines reality competition with physical and mental challenges. Celebrity teams begin in an empty box divided by a movable wall. Winning challenges earns a team more space and comforts, while the opposing team loses space. The U.S.-rights coverage describes two celebrity pairs sharing the setup for 24 hours. Television Asia Plus’s announcement report and Fremantle’s format announcement describe the concept.

How has the format travelled internationally?
On 28 November 2023, Fremantle announced that its companies had optioned the format for Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal. That announcement named Seoul-based Something Special as the format’s international representative. In September 2024, reports identified Interstellar as the U.S. licensee and said it produced a UK edition for UKTV’s U&Dave, presented by Jimmy Carr; Television Asia Plus reported that the UK edition had aired that summer.
On 16 September 2025, C21Media reported that Just IPicked had secured global format sales rights and would handle international sales and remake negotiations. That report does not explain how the later global sales arrangement relates to the U.S. license previously reported for Interstellar. It therefore does not establish that U.S. rights were transferred, retained or exercised. C21Media’s 2025 report covers the development.

The sources reviewed do not identify a U.S. commissioning broadcaster or platform, production start, cast, episode count, schedule or premiere date. Until a commissioning or production announcement provides those details, the U.S. version’s status remains unestablished.
