Lamar’s selection was presented as a cultural milestone. In the NFL’s announcement, he said: “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why.” The same announcement described his 2022 appearance at Super Bowl LVI, where he performed alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, making the 2025 show his second Super Bowl halftime appearance.
The guest: SZA
SZA was announced as Lamar’s guest in a trailer released by Lamar and Apple Music. Per the NFL’s report on the announcement, the guest role was a joining role rather than a separate headline slot, so she is best described as a featured guest. NFL/AP guest report

That figure comes from the NFL.com and Associated Press 2025 page, and it has not been independently checked here. Apple Music’s catalog lists the performance as a 2025 concert film, about 13 minutes long, featuring Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Catalog availability can vary by country and change over time, so check the listing in your region before you search for it. Apple Music listing
Apple’s February 3, 2025 release described additional event-period material, including a February 6 headliner interview hosted by Ebro Darden and Nadeska Alexis, more than 100 hours of Apple Music Radio programming, and a Road to Halftime collection. Why the 2025 answer differs from the current season
Super Bowl LIX and the 2025 halftime show are a separate event from later Super Bowls. The NFL’s current halftime page names Bad Bunny as the headliner for Super Bowl LX and refers to Lamar’s show as the previous year’s performance. If you are looking up a more recent game, match the event by its Roman numeral, since “this year’s headliner” changes with every season. NFL halftime page
Apple’s own description of Lamar’s career, written for the February 2025 release, credited his output with a broad international reach. Apple’s figures on that point are company-reported: GNX reached No. 1 in 129 countries on release, and Apple said nine of his albums had topped its top albums chart in more than 160 countries. If you want to hear more of Lamar’s music after the show, his latest album named in Apple’s February 2025 release is GNX. It is a studio album, not a recording of the halftime performance.
