Kiernan Shipka has not publicly confirmed a romantic relationship. In a 2024 interview with Cosmopolitan she said she has chosen not to talk about her dating life, and in a Summer 2024 profile with C Magazine she said she was single at that time. Several men have been linked to her in entertainment coverage, including Charlie Oldman, Christian Coppola and John Mayer, but none of those links is established as a confirmed relationship in the sources reviewed.

What Shipka has said about her dating life
Her clearest statement comes from a 2024 Cosmopolitan interview. Asked whether she was dating, she said:
“I’ve always had a healthy relationship with dating, but I’ve spent so much of my life in the public eye in one way or another, I’ve figured out that I need to set a boundary for myself and not talk about it.”

The interviewer noted that she had never publicly confirmed a relationship. That boundary, not a list of names, is the most reliable public position she has taken.
In the Summer 2024 C Magazine profile, Shipka acknowledged past links to John Mayer and to filmmaker Christian Coppola, and told the interviewer she was single. She also described a change in what she was looking for:
“When I was younger, I felt like it was all about dating. But my recent journey has been much more inward. And the stronger I feel, the more that I’m drawn to having deeper friendships.”
Her single status is a statement about the period of that interview. It is not a verified statement about her life today, and no source reviewed for this article confirms her relationship status as of October 2026.

C Magazine reports that Shipka had been linked to Coppola. The 2025 timeline describes posts and appearances that fueled talk, but nothing reviewed contains a direct statement from either of them about a relationship.
John Mayer
The musician is the most widely repeated name. C Magazine notes the link, and The Express Tribune’s July 2024 report describes sightings and ongoing rumors without demonstrating that a relationship existed. The 2025 timeline says it was never confirmed.

Why sightings and posts are not the same as dating
Entertainment coverage tends to treat three different kinds of evidence as if they were interchangeable. They are not, and keeping them apart is the simplest way to avoid repeating an unsupported claim.
- First-person confirmation: the subject or the other person says, on the record, that they were or are together. Shipka has not done this for any of the names above.
- Reported interaction: a photo, appearance or sighting places two people together. This shows contact, not the nature of the relationship.
- Unconfirmed rumor: a link repeated across articles, often built on earlier articles rather than new reporting.
Only the first category establishes a relationship. Based on the sources reviewed, none of the names here has that kind of confirmation.
Other names
The sources reviewed do not support presenting any other person as a confirmed partner. Co-stars, friends and incidental appearances at events should not be described as relationships unless a reliable source reports otherwise.
How to describe her status accurately
If you need a sentence for an article or post, use wording that matches the evidence. For example: “Kiernan Shipka has said she keeps her dating life private, and she told C Magazine in 2024 that she was single at the time.” Avoid “currently single,” “ex-boyfriend” or “dated” for any of the names above, since none is confirmed by her or by the other person in the sources reviewed.
