Deku (Izuku Midoriya) ends My Hero Academia pointed toward Ochaco Uraraka. The manga never states that the two are officially dating or married, and the answer depends on which ending you mean: the magazine finale, Chapter 430, or the epilogue added to the final collected volume, Chapter 431, “More.”
The short answer
Ochaco is the romantic direction the ending most clearly sets up. The story shows the two reconnecting and carries mutual romantic implication, but it does not label them a couple. If you need a single word, “Ochaco” is accurate. If you need a claim the text backs up word for word, the safe statement is that the ending points toward her without formally confirming a relationship.
Two endings, two different answers
“Final chapter” can mean two things, and readers who have only seen one of them often reach different conclusions.
| Version | Where it appears | Date or edition | What it establishes about Deku and Ochaco |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chapter 430 | Final chapter of the Weekly Shonen Jump serialization | VIZ’s chapter listing dates it July 28, 2024 | Closes the magazine run with an open-ended outcome. It does not explicitly label a romantic relationship. |
| Chapter 431, “More” | Extended epilogue in Volume 42, the final collected volume | Edition-specific; the sources reviewed do not give a separate release date for the epilogue | Brings the two back together, moves their connection forward, and adds clearer romantic implication. It still stops short of an explicit label such as “dating” or “married.” |
A reader who stops at Chapter 430 may see a looser ending than a reader of the final volume, which is why the chapter number matters when you answer.

What the epilogue adds and what it leaves open
Chapter 431 is the part of the ending that makes the Deku and Ochaco thread explicit. The summaries available from the My Hero Academia Wiki describe it as revisiting Izuku and Ochaco and advancing their connection. ComicBook.com, which covered the added epilogue, describes its resolution of the pair as subtle. That reading is useful context, but it is coverage interpreting the scene, not a line of dialogue or narration stating their status.
The manga does not, in the sources reviewed, describe the couple as dating or married. The official VIZ listing for the final volume identifies it as the last volume and gives retail information, but it does not comment on the relationship.
Matching the answer to the question
The same ending supports two different answers depending on how the question is phrased:
- “Who does Deku end up with?” Ochaco Uraraka. The ending positions her as his romantic partner in the story’s final direction.
- “Do Deku and Ochaco end up together?” The story points that way, especially in Chapter 431, but it does not confirm a formal relationship.
- “Does the manga confirm they are officially dating or married?” No. Neither chapter states it explicitly.
Where to read the epilogue
Chapter 431 appears in My Hero Academia, Vol. 42, which VIZ lists as the final volume of the series. VIZ’s listing also names Amazon among the retailers that carry it. The publisher has also released alternate-cover versions and collector items for the final volume, so check the exact edition before buying if a specific cover matters to you. Readers who only want the ending can skip the magazine chapter and go straight to the volume, since Chapter 431 is where the relationship thread is developed.
