Spoilers for all three seasons. This chronology follows the story from Season 1 through the Season 3 finale, naming every character whose death is identified or specifically described on screen or in Netflix’s episode guides. Anonymous contestants and guards are grouped by the game that eliminates them because no official source publishes a complete casualty ledger.
The first named casualty is Player 324 in Red Light, Green Light. From there, the deaths proceed through the Dalgona, Tug-of-War, Marbles, Glass Bridge and final games, then continue through Seasons 2 and 3’s rebellion, Hide and Seek and Sky Squid Game. Several apparent deaths—including Jun-ho’s fall and Young-il’s staged death—are not real deaths.
Published elimination figures
| Season and round | Published figure | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1: Red Light, Green Light | 255 eliminated | Netflix Tudum’s 2025 recap says 255 of 456 players are eliminated, leaving 201. |
| Season 1: Dalgona | 79 eliminated | Netflix Tudum reports 79 eliminations among the 187 who take part, leaving 108. |
| Season 1: Tug-of-War | 40 remain | The losing teams fall to their deaths; the guide gives the surviving-player total rather than a named casualty list. |
| Season 1: Glass Bridge | Three remain | The game eliminates everyone except the final three players. |
| Season 2: Pentathlon | 111 eliminated; 255 remain | Netflix Tudum’s 2025 guide gives these round totals. |
| Season 2: Mingle | 100 remain | The published figure is the number left after the game, not a complete named death list. |
| Season 3: Hide and Seek | 35 eliminated | Netflix Tudum’s 2025 explanation counts the round’s player eliminations. |

Jun-ho’s apparent death is not a death
The Front Man shoots police officer Hwang Jun-ho and Jun-ho falls from a cliff in the Season 1 finale. The scene is presented as fatal, but Jun-ho survives, as confirmed in the Season 2 preview recap. He therefore does not belong on a death list.

Jun-hee’s sacrifice during Jump Rope
Jun-hee gives birth during Hide and Seek and injures her ankle. When she cannot safely cross the Jump Rope course, Gi-hun carries the baby, Player 222, across and tries to return for her. Jun-hee steps off the platform so that his attempt to rescue her cannot put the infant at greater risk. She dies, while the baby continues in the competition.
Myung-gi’s fall in Sky Squid Game
Myung-gi falls from the final tower after his jacket tears while Gi-hun is holding him. The fall occurs before the button that starts the round has been pressed. Netflix Tudum quotes creator Hwang Dong-hyuk: “Any deaths that occur outside an official round do not count.” Myung-gi dies in the story, but his fall is not counted as an official round death.
Captain Park’s death
In the external boat storyline, Jun-ho kills Captain Park with a harpoon after Park reveals his role in the operation. This is separate from the competition and from the earlier crewman Park threw overboard.
Gi-hun’s final sacrifice
Seong Gi-hun presses the button and ends his own life so that Jun-hee’s baby can live and win. Player 222 is the winner. Actor Lee Jung-jae described the impulse behind the choice this way: “It is almost like Gi-hun’s looking at his own daughter.”

Netflix’s official guides publish several round-level elimination totals, but they do not reconcile those figures into one definitive death count for the entire series. “Eliminated” totals can include mass game casualties, while named off-game deaths and apparent deaths follow different rules. The chronology above therefore separates named deaths, unnamed group casualties and deaths that occur outside an official round.
Season 3, Episode 6 is identified by Netflix Tudum as the planned series finale, and the Netflix Media Center describes Season 3 as the third and final season.
