Reuters described Melania as documenting Melania Trump’s life during the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second inauguration. The Associated Press reported that the preview came in the week before that opening and that the film had not been screened in advance for critics.

What did Donald Trump say before the screening?
An official GovInfo transcript records remarks by President Donald Trump before a screening. In that exchange, he said: “Brett and John told me that she’s very influential, more than most folks might think because she is so private and reserved.” The transcript documents remarks before a screening; it does not establish a full transcript of the event.
Who directed Melania, and what is known about the deal?
Brett Ratner directed the documentary, according to Reuters, which also reported that Amazon MGM Studios acquired the film rights for $40 million. That is the reported rights-deal amount, not the film’s production budget or a measure of its box-office performance.
