The variants that can be identified with confidence in Deadpool and Wolverine are Nicepool and Dogpool, plus the members of the Deadpool Corps whose names appear in the film’s credits: Ladypool, Kidpool, Babypool, Headpool, Cowboypool, Welshpool, and Canadapool. Dogpool is played by Peggy, a dog. Spoiler note: this guide describes who the alternate versions are, not how their storylines resolve.
The film is a 2024 Marvel Studios production directed by Shawn Levy, with a screenplay credited to Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Levy. Disney’s UK listing gives its release date as 25 July 2024.

Wade Wilson and the idea of a “variant”
The film’s central character is Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, who is known as Deadpool. The story is a multiverse adventure in which Wade meets other versions of himself. In this movie, “variant” means an alternate version of Wade from another point in the multiverse. Each variant is a different Wade shaped by different circumstances, which is why the film can build its jokes around contrast with the original.
Not every masked figure on screen is a named character. The guide below separates three groups: variants with a clear official identity, members of the Corps identified through the credits, and background costumes that cannot be named from the material available.

- Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake yet. His days as Deadpool behind him, a listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. But when his homeworld is threatened, he reluctantly suits up as he tries to convince Wolverine? oh hell, just watch. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
The named variants
Nicepool
Nicepool is presented as a comparatively unscarred, self-regarding version of Wade, and the joke depends on the gap between him and the original. Reynolds is credited for the role alongside Wade Wilson and Deadpool in IMDb’s credits listing. That listing is a database rather than an official studio document, so the performer credit is solid for the role but less authoritative than studio publicity.
Dogpool (Peggy)
Dogpool is the variant most readers ask about. D23, the official Disney fan organization, describes Wade and Wolverine encountering various variants, “chief among them Dogpool, played by Peggy.” Peggy is a dog, and the character is the film’s most prominent non-human variant.

D23 also quotes Reynolds drawing a link between Dogpool and Wade. In his words: “Like Wade, Dogpool is an ‘outcast’ who ‘doesn’t look right,’ he said.” The parallel is about outsider status rather than appearance alone, which is why the character works as a companion piece to the lead.
D23 reports a second remark from Levy, the director, about the character’s reception: “I think a lot of people are about to be obsessed.” This is a prediction by the director, not a measure of how audiences responded after release.

The Deadpool Corps
The Deadpool Corps gives the film its crowd of variants. Rather than giving each member an individual subplot, the film presents them as a group, which is why the on-screen scale of alternate Wades is the main joke. The table below lists the Corps members named in the credits, with the credited performer and any confirmed background. Where a source does not describe a detail, the cell says so.
| Variant | Credited performer (IMDb credits) | Role and notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ladypool | Blake Lively (voice) | Named Corps member; visual design not stated in sources reviewed. |
| Kidpool | Inez Reynolds | Named Corps member; visual design not stated in sources reviewed. |
| Babypool | Olin Reynolds | Named Corps member; visual design not stated in sources reviewed. |
| Headpool | Nathan Fillion (voice) | Floating-head variant with a comics origin; see the Headpool section below. |
| Cowboypool | Matthew McConaughey (voice) | Named Corps member; visual design not stated in sources reviewed. |
| Welshpool | Paul Mullin | Named Corps member; the credit does not specify whether the performance is voice or on-camera. |
| Canadapool | Alex Kyshkovych | Named Corps member; the credit does not specify whether the performance is voice or on-camera. |
The performer details come from a credits database, not from the studio’s short press-kit cast list. For voice roles, the credit identifies the voice actor, but it does not establish how much of a scene the performer shaped, so the table does not make claims beyond the credit.

- Marvel fans assemble, because threesomes are better. This Deadpool 3-Movie Collection gives you “Deadpool,” “Deadpool 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In the movie that started all this nonsense, you’ll meet Wade Wilson and find out what in the h-e-double hockey sticks happened to his face. In the second flick, follow everyone’s favorite antihero when something worse than his face happens. And in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” well, all is lost. It’s a Deadpool extravaganza for some well-deserved alone time. You’re welcome.
Headpool and the comics background
Headpool existed in Marvel comics before the film. Marvel’s official Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game character profile says that after his body was destroyed, he became an undead head, and that Deadpool-616 recruited him into the Deadpool Corps. The profile also describes a later mechanical skullcap fitted with a miniature helicopter blade.
That background explains why a floating head reads as a specific variant rather than a random gag. It is still a comics biography, and the profile does not describe the film version in detail, so readers should not assume the cinematic character follows every comics detail.

Identifying a figure you cannot place
Fan sites and forums often assign names to background figures. Use these rules to decide how much confidence a name deserves:
- Confirmed by credit: the name appears alongside a performer in the film’s credits, as with the Corps members in the table above.
- Confirmed by official publicity: Disney materials or D23 identify the variant, as with Dogpool.
- Fan identification only: a name that appears on a fan wiki or social post but is not in the credits or official material. Label these as fan identifications rather than character names.
No official total count of variants that this guide can verify is published, so any number of variants given online should be treated as an estimate unless its counting method is explained.
