What the dated family details say
A 2019 Sunday Times interview report gave the children’s ages at that time: Heather was 56, Mary 49, Stella 47, James 41 and Beatrice 15. Those are historical ages from the interview, not current ages. The same report said Mary and Stella each had four children then; it should not be treated as a current grandchild count. The report is reproduced by The Paul McCartney Project.

Why Paul is called “Grandude”
In that 2019 interview, Paul explained that the family nickname began when one of the children said, “Grandude, can you do this?” He recalled that the children started using it as a joke and that he found it funny. The nickname later inspired his book character. This account is from Paul’s interview with The Sunday Times, published August 30, 2019 and reproduced at The Paul McCartney Project.
