Spoilers for the multiverse-search montage. Deadpool encounters seven Wolverine looks while searching for a Logan who can help save his timeline: Old Man Logan, Short King Wolverine, Patch, a Weapon Omega/Age of Apocalypse-inspired variant, Wolverine vs. Hulk, Crucified Wolverine and Henry Cavill’s Wolverine, commonly nicknamed the Cavillrine. These are the montage’s commonly used identifications—not seven names confirmed in dialogue.
Where the Logan variants appear
The variants appear during Deadpool’s multiverse search for a Wolverine who can help his timeline. The sequence is separate from the film’s main Wolverine and from its other Deadpool variants. Screenwriter Rhett Reese described the story’s use of characters who live in different universes and follow different paths; that multiverse framework lets the film bring Wolverine back into the plot after the character’s death in Logan. Reese and Paul Wernick discussed the film’s multiverse setup with The Credits.
The seven Wolverine looks in the montage
The sequence moves quickly, and several labels refer to comic identities or visual references rather than names spoken on screen. The identifications below follow the montage guide published by TheWrap; its allusions are best understood as visual readings, not claims that the film adapts those full comic stories.
| Commonly used label | What to look for | Reference and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Old Man Logan | An older-looking Logan on a porch, wearing a cowboy hat; he shoots Deadpool. | The look draws on the comic identity. Costume designer Graham Churchyard said the film realized Old Man Logan with the hat, a concealed shotgun and a worn hunting jacket. The cameo is not a retelling of the comic’s full plot. (Churchyard’s production interview) |
| Short King Wolverine | A deliberately very short Wolverine. | A joke nodding to Wolverine’s shorter stature in the comics, rather than an adaptation of one particular story. |
| Patch | Wolverine in a white suit and eyepatch. | Identified with Patch, the undercover persona associated with that look in the comics. |
| Weapon Omega / Age of Apocalypse-inspired Wolverine | A long-haired, one-handed Wolverine in black and red. | “Weapon Omega” and “Age of Apocalypse” help identify the visual allusion; the film does not establish a separate backstory for this variant. |
| Wolverine vs. Hulk | A brown-costumed Wolverine in an encounter with Hulk. | The image evokes classic Hulk-and-Wolverine comic history, including the reflective-claws composition associated with The Incredible Hulk #340. This is a visual-reference reading. |
| Crucified Wolverine | Wolverine displayed crucified on a large X. | A pose identified as a homage to the cover of Uncanny X-Men #251. |
| The Cavillrine | Henry Cavill as a Wolverine variant. | “Cavillrine” is the common nickname, not a separately confirmed formal character name. Churchyard confirmed Cavill’s participation and said variant code names were used in the costume process. (Churchyard’s interview) |

What the production team confirmed
Churchyard said the montage’s variant costumes were planned in the script, including the unusually small Wolverine: “So, you’re talking about weeks before things really get the costume, but the little Wolverine, all of them—they were there in the script.” He also described Old Man Logan as a look the team was pleased to finally realize for Deadpool’s search. Those comments confirm production work on the looks; they do not turn every montage label into an official in-film name.
