When was it released?
The video was released in the United States on April 19, 2024. Universal Music Japan’s notice is dated April 20, 2024; that is the Japanese announcement date, not the U.S. release date. The notice describes surreal hospital, typewriter, and relationship imagery in the video: Universal Music Japan’s announcement.
What did Swift say the imagery means?
Swift said she wanted the video to show “the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music.” She also described its details as metaphors or references to parts of the album. That is her account of her creative intent; it does not establish a definitive meaning for each individual scene or prop. Good Morning America quoted Swift’s Instagram statement.
