The edit changed Carpenter’s line about arresting someone for being “too hot” to “too illegal,” then cut to footage of ICE arrests. It followed a separate White House video using Carpenter’s song “Juno,” which she publicly condemned.
What changed in the ‘SNL’ clip?
In the original promo, Carpenter says, “I think I might need to arrest someone for being too hot.” Hernández replies, “Oh well, I turn myself in,” and Carpenter says, “You’re under arrest.” The White House edit replaces “too hot” with “too illegal,” keeps the arrest exchange, and then cuts to footage of people being chased or arrested by ICE, according to TheWrap’s December 5 report and Hot Press’s December 9 report.

The White House account’s caption read: “PSA: If you’re a criminal illegal, you WILL be arrested & deported.” That was the post caption, not dialogue spoken by Carpenter.
How it differed from the earlier ‘Juno’ video
The altered SNL promo was a separate post from an earlier White House video that used Carpenter’s song “Juno” over footage of ICE arrests. Carpenter objected to that earlier video on X, writing: “This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.” Rolling Stone Australia reported that White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson replied to Carpenter’s criticism of the “Juno” video: “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: We won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?”
#1 Best Overall
- Man's Best Friend is the latest album from multi-hyphenate global popstar Sabrina Carpenter
Jackson’s statement concerned Carpenter’s objection to the earlier music video; it was not a response to the later edited SNL clip. The two posts are linked by their use of Carpenter’s work in pro-ICE messaging, but they are distinct incidents.
