No Pokémon is established as the most common Ditto disguise. In Pokémon GO, Ditto picks from a set of eligible disguises and reveals itself only after you catch it, and no published figures compare how often each species turns out to be Ditto. What you can check is which species are currently in the eligible pool. The most recent guide, dated October 8, 2026, visibly names five: Mankey, Growlithe, Magnemite, Voltorb, and Sentret. A guide last updated September 18, 2026 lists six more regular-pool names, for a total of eleven.
The current disguise list
The table below separates what each source shows and when it was published. The October list is the one to use for current play, but its accessible table stops after five entries, so the sixth through eleventh names come from the September guide only.

How Ditto disguises work
Ditto does not look different in the wild. It appears as one of the eligible species, and the only reveal happens when you catch it. That means the disguise itself tells you nothing reliable about whether the encounter is Ditto. Catching eligible wild Pokémon is the practical way to find one, but no single encounter is guaranteed to produce it.

A compatible auto-catch device can help you catch eligible encounters, but it does not identify Ditto ahead of time. Pokémon GO Hub notes that Ditto can be caught using Pokémon GO Plus+ and compatible auto-catch devices, which makes that accessory useful for catching more encounters, not for spotting Ditto.
Shiny Ditto and the disguise rule
A Pokémon that appears Shiny is not a Ditto. Niantic’s official help page sets the rule directly:

“Ditto will not disguise itself as other Shiny Pokémon, even if Ditto is Shiny. However, a Shiny Ditto may disguise itself as a non-Shiny Pokémon!”

Event pools can differ
Event disguises do not always match the regular pool. Pokémon GO’s official announcement documented temporary Ditto disguise changes during the Pokémon Pokopia Celebration, which ran March 10–16, 2026. Niantic does not publish an official, current regular disguise list in the sources reviewed for this article, so the names above come from third-party guides. The October 8 guide is the most recent, but its accessible table shows only five entries. The September 18 guide has the fuller list, and its six additional names are dated to September. Nothing here shows that those six have stopped being eligible, but nothing confirms they are still active for October either. Check the list again after events or game updates, because the pool can change.

Keep in mind the wording of the question itself. Reading the list as a ranking would be a mistake. Being on the list means a species can be a disguise. It does not mean that species is more likely to be Ditto than the others.

What to do with this
- Treat the five October names as the confirmed current starting point.
- Treat the six September-only names as possible disguises that need a current check.
- Catch eligible encounters and look at the result after capture. Do not expect any species to reveal Ditto in advance.
- Expect a Shiny Ditto to look like a non-Shiny Pokémon, never like another Shiny.
