The confirmed examples below show why the threshold matters: Chauncey Rivers appeared in regular-season games, Ronald Ollie received a Raiders signing opportunity, and C.J. Reavis is identified in Jaguars material as a player featured in the series. A signing or team connection is not the same as playing in an NFL game.
What “made it to the NFL” means
Players can reach the league by signing or receiving a tryout, being placed on a roster, or appearing in a regular-season game. Those milestones are different, so the examples below are grouped by what the cited record establishes rather than treated as equivalent NFL careers.

- Signed or invited: evidence of an NFL opportunity, not proof of a game appearance.
- Rostered: evidence of placement on a team roster; it does not by itself establish a regular-season appearance.
- Played: a regular-season game record establishes that the player appeared in an NFL game.
Confirmed examples in the sources reviewed
Chauncey Rivers — appeared in regular-season games
Green Bay Packers game notes list Rivers’ defensive statistics for Baltimore in 2020 and Green Bay in 2021, covering five regular-season games in total. This is the clearest game-level evidence among these examples. The record cited here is historical through 2021; it does not establish his current NFL status. Green Bay Packers game notes
Ronald Ollie — signed by the Raiders
NFL.com reported in 2019 that the Raiders signed Ollie and described him as a Last Chance U star. That confirms an NFL signing opportunity, but the signing report does not establish that he appeared in a regular-season game. NFL.com’s report on Ollie’s signing

C.J. Reavis — identified in Jaguars player material
Jacksonville Jaguars player snapshots identify Reavis as a player featured on Last Chance U and provide NFL team context. The reviewed snapshot is historical, so it should not be read as a statement of his current status or as proof of a regular-season appearance. Jacksonville Jaguars player snapshots
How many Last Chance U players made the NFL?
A reliable total is not established by these records. They confirm individual examples, but do not verify every candidate across all five seasons against NFL or team records using one consistent definition of “made it.” It would therefore be misleading to present the examples above as a complete list or give an unqualified total.

Netflix’s June 9, 2016 launch announcement said that East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) graduated more than 20 players per year into four-year football scholarships and that nine former EMCC players then played in the NFL. Those were dated, school-level figures—not a count of Last Chance U alumni who eventually reached the league. Netflix’s 2016 announcement
Series context and where to watch
Netflix announced the original season as a six-part documentary premiering July 29, 2016, while its current title page presents Last Chance U as a five-part documentary series. These descriptions refer to different page contexts and should not be combined into a claim about the total number of episodes in the full series. Secondary coverage also surfaces Dakota Allen and John Franklin III as possible NFL-related examples, but the records reviewed here do not verify their full NFL histories from primary team or league materials. A 2025 Associated Press report names John Franklin III, Ronald Ollie, C.J. Reavis, Deandre Johnson, Tim Bonner, and Isaiah Wright as people featured in the first two seasons; it concerns a legal dispute and does not establish that each reached the NFL.
