The Associated Press describes Sheeran as a lifelong Ipswich Town fan, as well as a minority shareholder and the club’s shirt sponsor since 2021. His connection has extended beyond sponsorship. Ipswich chief executive Mark Ashton told AP that Sheeran helped the club persuade a player to join: “In the summer, we were trying to persuade one particular player to join the football club and realized very quickly that he was an Ed Sheeran fan.”
Other celebrities linked to Ipswich Town

ITV Anglia described Keane singer Tom Chaplin as a big Ipswich supporter. The report does not establish how long he has supported the club or whether Ipswich is his exclusive allegiance.
Charlie Simpson
ITV Anglia described Busted singer Charlie Simpson as an Ipswich supporter and noted that he grew up in Woodbridge. That local connection provides context, but by itself does not establish the depth or duration of his support.

Omid Djalili

Because the quoted remark names Aston Villa as well, it is not strong evidence of exclusive Ipswich support. The wording and context should be treated cautiously: the available attribution here is to a secondary compilation, not a direct interview transcript.

The useful distinction is what each report actually documents, rather than treating every name on a fan list as equally committed.
