Did Robbie Williams make a bid for Port Vale?
In response to takeover reports, Port Vale said: “Robbie Williams has not made a bid to purchase Port Vale Football Club and there have been no conversations regarding that happening.” ITV News Central reported the statement on 31 January 2024, along with the club’s position that the Shanahan family remained committed as owners. This answers what the club said about the reports in 2024. It does not establish whether there have been later ownership discussions or changes beyond the dates covered by the cited sources.
What is Robbie Williams’s role at Port Vale now?
On 12 June 2026, Port Vale announced a two-year partnership naming Williams a Port Vale Foundation ambassador and the club’s official front-of-shirt partner. His RW mark was due to appear on the home and away shirts in the 2026/27 and 2027/28 seasons. Williams said: “It feels pretty incredible, to be honest. The announcement describes an ambassador role and a commercial shirt partnership, not a purchase or ownership stake. Williams’s connection to the club, including his presidency cited in coverage of the 2024 reports, should not be treated as proof that he bid to buy it.
Where does the Port Vale shirt partnership appear?
Port Vale said Williams’s RW mark would feature on the club’s home and away shirts for two seasons. Its announcement said the 2026/27 home shirt would be available from 13 June 2026 at 9am through the club store, in person and online.
