Notable celebrities associated with Celtic include actors Martin Compston, Tony Curran and Gianni Capaldi, whom Celtic FC Foundation described as lifelong supporters. Sir Rod Stewart and Billy Connolly are also linked to the club, but the available evidence for them is more qualified: Celtic reported Stewart’s support for the Foundation, while former Celtic player Jim Craig described Stewart and Connolly as club ambassadors.
Actors Celtic FC Foundation called lifelong supporters
The clearest evidence comes from Celtic FC Foundation, which named three Scottish actors as ambassadors in October 2021 and described them as “lifelong Celtic supporters.” The announcement establishes their connection to Celtic without relying on fan-list speculation.

Martin Compston has also spoken about following Celtic
In a 2018 Foundation article, Compston recalled growing up following Celtic and said former Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov was a hero of his. The article also reported that a charity match at Celtic Park would be Compston’s fourth appearance there. Celtic FC Foundation, “Martin Compston set to star in A Match For Cancer,” published 17 July 2018
Rod Stewart: Foundation supporter and club ambassador, according to others
Celtic FC reported that Sir Rod Stewart supported the work of Celtic FC Foundation at its New York gala in October 2019. That club report documents his Foundation involvement; on its own, it should not be treated as a direct statement by Stewart about his personal fandom. Celtic FC, “Sir Rod Stewart supports Celtic FC Foundation in New York,” 9 October 2019

In a later interview with FourFourTwo, former Celtic player Jim Craig called Stewart “another great ambassador for the club” and mentioned Billy Connolly alongside him. This is Craig’s characterization, not a direct quote from either celebrity. FourFourTwo, Jim Craig interview, 22 December 2025

“Most famous” depends on how fame is measured, and these sources do not rank celebrities by recognition or count celebrity supporters. The strongest documented examples are Compston, Curran and Capaldi because the Foundation explicitly called them lifelong supporters. Stewart’s Foundation support is documented by Celtic, while the characterization of Stewart and Connolly as club ambassadors comes from Craig’s interview. These are notable examples, not an objective top-five list.
