The Perfect Couple is set on Nantucket, but most of Netflix’s adaptation was filmed in Chatham on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Chatham also stood in for the fictional Winbury family estate, Summerland. The production did film selected scenes and B-roll on Nantucket itself, so the island is both the story’s setting and a real filming location.
Where was The Perfect Couple filmed?
Chatham was the production’s main base. Showrunner Jenna Lamia told Netflix Tudum that much of the series was filmed there, including the scenes at Summerland. The Massachusetts Film Office likewise says filming began in Chatham in spring 2023 and that the lion’s share of production took place there.

Lamia called Chatham the production’s “home base” and said the crew enhanced the location with blue hydrangeas. The choice gives the series its Cape Cod look while the story identifies the Winbury family’s home as a Nantucket estate.
Was The Perfect Couple filmed on Nantucket?
Yes. Nantucket was not only the fictional setting: the production filmed selected material on the island. Director Susanne Bier told Tudum the crew went there for “bits we couldn’t do anywhere else.” Among the examples she described were a passing view of a bookshop featuring Greer’s Dash & Dolly novel and the bar where Greer meets police chief Dan Carter.

The Massachusetts Film Office reports that Netflix crews visited Nantucket for B-roll in September 2023. It also relays author Elin Hilderbrand’s account that second-unit filming took place on the island and that helicopter footage was captured there. These island shots supplement the much larger body of filming done in Chatham.
Where is the Summerland estate in real life?
Summerland is fictional, and the production account places its filming in Chatham, not at a confirmed Nantucket property. The cited official sources do not identify the private house used for the Winbury estate by real-world name or address. It is therefore more accurate to say the fictional Summerland was filmed in Chatham than to name a specific home as the estate.

Story setting versus filming locations
| On screen | Production location |
|---|---|
| Nantucket, where the story takes place | Chatham on Cape Cod was the primary filming base; selected scenes and B-roll were also filmed on Nantucket. |
| Summerland, the fictional Winbury estate | Filmed in Chatham, according to showrunner Jenna Lamia’s Netflix Tudum account. |
| Island atmosphere and overhead views | Nantucket B-roll and helicopter footage were reported by the Massachusetts Film Office. |
These descriptions are not contradictory: Nantucket supplies the story world and some actual footage, while Chatham supplied most of the production and the setting for Summerland.

The Massachusetts Film Office says filming began in Chatham in spring 2023 and wrapped in early summer. It dates the Nantucket B-roll visit to September 2023. Tudum says much of the series was filmed during April, but its passage does not specify the year; the Massachusetts Film Office timeline provides the clearer year-specific account.
