Netflix’s Australian drama Territory filmed at Tipperary Station, a real working cattle station in the Northern Territory. The show’s Lawson family property, Marianne Station, is fictional. Netflix also names Kakadu National Park as a filming location.
Where was Territory filmed?
Netflix identifies Tipperary Station and Kakadu National Park as locations used for the series. Tipperary is a working cattle station, not the fictional Lawson property shown in the story. Netflix describes Kakadu filming as having taken place with special permission from Traditional Owners. Netflix’s location feature gives those location details.
There are differing official descriptions of the production’s geographic scope. Netflix’s 2024 release announcement says filming took place across the Northern Territory and South Australia; its 2023 production announcement describes work in Darwin and other Top End locations as well as Adelaide. By contrast, the Northern Territory Department of Tourism and Hospitality’s 2024–25 annual report says the series was filmed entirely in the NT. These accounts do not establish that every production activity or facility was on location, so it is most precise to say Tipperary and Kakadu are confirmed NT filming locations while noting the sources’ different descriptions of the wider production. Netflix’s 2024 announcement, Netflix’s 2023 announcement, and the NT department’s 2024–25 annual report provide those accounts.
Is Tipperary Station real, and can you visit?
Tipperary Station is a real, working cattle station. Netflix says it has its own airfield and school. Those details do not make it a visitor attraction: the available official location information does not establish public access, so do not assume you can visit the property because it appeared on screen.

What is Marianne Station?
Marianne Station is the fictional cattle property at the centre of the drama’s succession struggle. The real Tipperary Station served as a filming location; it is not the same place as the Lawson family’s fictional station.
What do “station” and “muster” mean?
In Australian cattle-country usage, a station is a large landholding used to raise livestock. The person who owns or manages a pastoral property is commonly called a grazier or pastoralist. A muster is the gathering of cattle or sheep, often across a large area. Netflix gives March–June and August–November as general muster periods in the Northern Territory; those are broad seasonal windows, not a promise about the timing of any particular station’s work. Netflix’s explanation of the series and station terminology supplies this context.

The Northern Territory Government’s September 25, 2023 announcement—when the series was being promoted under its working title, Desert King—reported a $1.3 million contribution through the Production Attraction Incentive Program. That was an incentive contribution, not a stated total production budget. The NT Department of Tourism and Hospitality’s 2024–25 annual report later attributed $6.88 million in direct NT spend to Territory. The same report said the series recorded 112.6 million viewing hours in three months and ranked number two globally on Netflix. These figures describe different things: an earlier production incentive, later reported local spending, and viewership in a stated period. The 2023 NT Government announcement and the 2024–25 NT annual report are the sources for those figures.
