Andor was filmed mainly in the United Kingdom across both seasons. Season 1 relied on English and Scottish locations, and Season 2 added Spain and Italy alongside more UK work. Several of the series’ most recognisable settings were not shot on location at all. They combine real places with studio builds and digital extensions, so the map of filming locations is not the same as the map of the show’s planets.
Season 1: a UK-centred shoot
Season 1 was produced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming in England reports that the original plan to shoot across several countries had to be reimagined, which led the production to rely heavily on locations in the UK.

The regional film body’s 2022 write-up documents several English sites:
- Cleveleys and Blackpool, Lancashire. Filming in England, citing Wyre Council, dates the Cleveleys shoot to early May 2021 and says the seafront appears in episode 7. It also records several days of filming on the Blackpool seafront in 2021.
- Jelleys Hollow, near Cranleigh, Surrey. Used as a woodland setting. The regional article does not give a shooting date for this site.
- Middle Peak Quarry, Derbyshire. Used as a landscape location, with filming reported in summer 2021.
Scotland contributed at least one documented site. Screen Scotland’s production listing names Cruachan Reservoir in Argyll as an Andor filming location.

Season 2 broadened the footprint. Official production material from StarWars.com and Disney Spain places key sequences in Valencia, Catalonia and Lake Como, while English studios and estates handled much of the rest.
Spain
- City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia. Used for Coruscant and Senate District scenes. Production personnel describe building on the real architecture, which gave the digital city an anchor that actually exists.
- Montserrat, Catalonia. Used for Chandrila mountain and estate exteriors, and for a hike sequence that the cast filmed there in March 2023 before moving on to Valencia. The estate interiors were built at Pinewood rather than shot on site.
- Xàtiva Castle, Valencia region. Used for a hill-town marketplace and a castle-wall scene. The official trivia feature places the castle about an hour south of Valencia.
Italy
- Lake Como. Helicopter footage was used for Ghorman, and landscape plates were used for Naboo. This was landscape photography rather than a full cast shoot, so it should not be read as an acting location.
England, beyond Season 1
- Watlington, Oxfordshire. A rye field used for Mina-Rau. The location and crop were later recreated on a Pinewood stage after the 2023 strike interrupted the shoot.
- Greenham Common, Berkshire. A former RAF base that StarWars.com identifies as a real-world location used by the production for Yavin-related material.
- Black Park, Buckinghamshire. Used for Season 2 woodland flashbacks, and also used in Season 1.
- Hever Castle, Kent. A Season 2 location. A different scene from The Phantom Menace was filmed here in 1997, and that earlier production is unrelated to Andor.
- Longcross Studios, Surrey. The Season 2 jungle clearing was a planted section of a Longcross test track.
- McLaren Technology Center, Woking. Used for the Imperial Security Bureau operations room in Season 2. StarWars.com places that room within the OKX Thought Leadership Center, and the complex also supplied Season 1 Coruscant material.

How real places, sets and digital work fit together
The series grounded its fictional worlds in real landscapes and architecture, then extended or augmented them digitally. ILM’s TJ Falls says the production used existing locations in the UK and around the world. VFX supervisor Mohen Leo explains that the balance between location work and effects depended on story needs, budget and time.
When you read a location claim, check which kind of image it describes:
Rank #3
- On-location filming, such as the Montserrat hike sequence or the Cleveleys seafront.
- Studio set, such as the Season 2 Ghorman build on the Pinewood backlot, which StarWars.com describes as more than 500 feet long, and the Montserrat estate interiors at Pinewood.
- Landscape plate or aerial element, such as the Lake Como helicopter footage used for Ghorman.
- Hybrid image, combining a real site with set extensions or digital cityscapes, as with the Valencia architecture used for Coruscant.
Mohen Leo put the production’s priority plainly: “One thing I took away from the project is to push as much as possible for real locations.” Tony Gilroy, the series creator and executive producer, made the same point in StarWars.com’s Valencia feature: “We need things that are here around us that are real. And then we can do set extensions and we can build things out. But we use the real, everything is real up front.”

- The Valencia event space used for Davo Sculdun’s party measured about 1,000 square metres, according to StarWars.com (2025).
- The Season 2 safehouse set saw 27 weeks pass between the first Cassian and Bix scenes filmed there and the final rescue sequence, according to StarWars.com (2025).
- The Cleveleys filming period was early May 2021, as reported by Wyre Council through Filming in England (2022).
These dates describe individual productions details. They do not show how much of either season was shot on location.
Visiting these places
A production location does not guarantee public access today. Filming in England reports that visitors came to Lancashire filming locations, but the production sources do not establish access rules, opening times or tours for each site. Check each location’s official visitor information before planning a trip, and treat the list above as a guide to what was filmed where rather than a list of places open to the public.
The Greenham Common, Longcross Studios and Pinewood sites are not documented here as public destinations, and the sources cited above do not state whether they are open to visitors.
