The most dependable places to hear Cajun and zydeco in New Orleans are a handful of venues that name this music in their own listings, including Mid-City Lanes Rock ‘N’ Bowl, Mulate’s, Tropical Isle Bayou Club, and The Tigermen Den. None of them offers a guaranteed nightly show, so the working method is to pick a venue, check its calendar for the exact date, and confirm the lineup before you travel. The clearest dated lead right now is The Tigermen Den’s Cajun Brunch on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
Start with the venues that name the music
New Orleans & Company, the city’s official tourism organization, lists Mid-City Lanes Rock ‘N’ Bowl, Mulate’s, and Tropical Isle Bayou Club among places offering zydeco, Cajun music, or dancing. Those listings describe what the venues advertise. They do not promise that a particular band is booked on a particular night, so treat them as the shortlist, not the schedule.

The Tigermen Den’s Cajun Brunch series
The Tigermen Den runs a monthly series on the second Sunday, from September through May. Each session includes live music, Fais Do-Do dancing, seating, food, and drinks, and a free beginner dance lesson at noon. The November 8, 2026 session is the one with a specific date on the venue’s current calendar, which makes it the most concrete option in this guide.
The venue’s own 2026 page says the Cajun Brunch is in its 15th year. That is the venue’s description, and it does not establish a founding date. The same page also carries older text with a date that conflicts with the current listing, so rely on the calendar entry and reconfirm it before you travel.

Reading a citywide calendar
New Orleans & Company’s live-music guide and calendar is the best place to discover what is playing across the city, and it points to its Cajun dancing listings. A busy live-music calendar is not the same as a Cajun or zydeco calendar, so scan each entry for the band name and genre before you plan around it.
The ARNB Cajun Zydeco Jams and Music Lessons schedule is community-maintained and partly automated. It is useful for finding jams and lessons you might otherwise miss. ARNB itself says it does not warrant event details and advises contacting venues directly, especially before a long trip.

The 2026 Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival is over, and it is paused
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s event page lists the 2026 Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival as held May 30 to 31, 2026, at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 N. Rampart Street, with free admission. The announced lineup included Donna Angelle & the Zydeco Posse, Babineaux Sisters, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie, Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas, The Revelers, Pine Leaf Boys, and Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band.
On August 20, 2026, the Foundation announced that the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival and the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival will pause beginning in the 2026–2027 programmatic year while the Foundation reimagines future presentations. The notice gives no return date, so do not plan around a 2027 festival. The Foundation’s interim executive director, Sarita Carriere, said the organization wants to continue “the tradition of these festivals with intentional care and consideration.” The Foundation says both festivals have celebrated Louisiana traditions since 2008.

How to confirm a night before you go
- Open the venue’s own calendar and find the exact date, not the recurring description on its home page.
- Confirm that the band or the dance program is named for that date. A listing for “live music” or a general dance night is not enough if you want Cajun or zydeco specifically.
- Call or message the venue to check admission, reservations, and whether the dance floor or lesson is part of that event.
- If you plan a special trip, check the ARNB schedule and the New Orleans & Company calendar for alternatives in case a booking changes.
The sources cited here do not establish current cover charges, reservation rules, or transport options for each venue, so those details must come from the venue itself.

No source here ranks these venues for sound quality, authenticity, or dance-floor conditions. The descriptions show what each venue advertises, not independent reviews. For that reason, choose between them by date, band, and whether you want to dance, listen, or take a lesson.
Every date and lineup in this guide reflects the sources as of October 8, 2026, and may change.
