Lisa Frank remains a private figure, and available reporting does not establish her current residence or day-to-day life. Her company, once known for neon stickers and school supplies, has not simply vanished: it has had later licensing activity and collaborations. But the brand’s reduced visibility, a reported factory closure, and accounts of company conflict have left its current operations unclear.
Where is Lisa Frank now?
Public reporting does not provide a verified account of Frank’s present-day personal life, residence, or activities. She has long kept a low public profile. The 2024 documentary Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story did not include a new interview with her: director Arianna LaPenne and executive producer Mary Robertson told KJZZ that Frank declined their requests and that the film included her response. KJZZ’s interview with the filmmakers describes that decision.
The title’s “CEO” framing needs care. TIME reports that James Green joined the company as a full-time artist in 1982 and became president and CEO in 1992; it also reports that Frank gave him 49% of the company’s shares. TIME later describes his removal. The available reporting does not verify Frank’s current corporate title or the company’s present leadership.
How Lisa Frank became a household name
From Sticky Fingers to Lisa Frank Inc.
Frank studied art at the University of Arizona and first ran Sticky Fingers, a children’s jewelry business. In 1979, she gave the company the Lisa Frank name; Scripps reports that it received a large order from Spencer Gifts that year. Scripps’ account of the brand’s history documents that early milestone.
Stickers, folders, and school supplies
The business expanded from stickers into colorful school products, including folders, Trapper Keepers, pens, pencils, and stationery. TIME reports that by the 1990s the company had deals with major retailers including Walmart and Target. The range and distribution helped make the brand a familiar part of back-to-school shopping.

TIME says company revenue reached an estimated $66 million at one point. That is a reported estimate, not an audited figure or a statement of current revenue. TIME’s overview of the documentary and company history provides the figure and its context.
Why did the Lisa Frank brand disappear?
“Disappear” describes a decline in cultural visibility, not proof that Lisa Frank Inc. ceased to exist. The documented story includes a shift from sticker collecting to mass-market school supplies, a factory closure reported in 2013, accounts of leadership and workplace conflict, and later licensing activity. The sources do not establish one independently verified cause for the brand’s loss of prominence or its full operating status in October 2026.

Company conflict and former employees’ accounts
Glitter and Greed covers Frank and Green’s relationship and the company’s internal conflicts, including former employees’ descriptions of working conditions and management. Those accounts are attributed testimony and documentary coverage, not adjudicated findings. They offer context for the brand’s history but do not, on their own, prove a single explanation for its reduced visibility.

Scripps reports that the Tucson-area factory closed in 2013. In 2023, a Lisa Frank social media post outside the facility used the caption “We’re baaaack,” prompting questions about a possible return. Scripps said the post did not clarify the building’s future and that the company had not immediately responded to questions. It is not evidence that the factory reopened.

Later collaborations did not restore its former visibility
TIME reports later licensing and collaborations, including Crocs and Casetify, showing that the brand continued to appear in new contexts. The article also describes a licensing dispute with Glamour Dolls: a judge dismissed several claims in September 2024, while some claims were set to proceed. That procedural update does not establish that either side prevailed overall.
