What happened in the stalking case
A TV Insider interview with LaRue and Kaya Callahan, published November 14, 2025, names James David Rogers as the stalker. According to that interview, he began targeting the family in 2007, when Kaya was five. The contact included obsessive letters containing threats of violence, calls to Kaya’s school in which he claimed to be her father, and threatening voicemails. This article does not repeat the threat language.

How the 12-year figure fits the timeline
The 12 years come from the distributor’s description, not from a calculation in the reporting. The sources do not say how the figure is measured. The reported start is 2007, and the arrest was in 2019. Counting from 2007 to 2019 gives 12 years, but the sources do not state that this is the period the 12 years refers to. Readers should treat “12 years” as the documentary’s framing rather than a precise, independently verified span.

Where the case stands
TV Insider reports that Rogers has since been released from prison. No court record, custody record or law-enforcement release was available for this article, so that status comes from the magazine’s reporting alone. Nothing here confirms his present situation or whether any restrictions apply to him now.
LaRue and Callahan describe living with ongoing caution while trying to live normally. In the TV Insider interview, LaRue said: “We live peacefully in spite of it. Her official biography describes a career of more than three decades in television and film. Roles it lists include:
