The Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals’ opinion in State v. Raber recounts the investigation and Raber’s trial. It describes the pair’s relationship, their text messages setting out the plan, and Raber’s confession. The court affirmed Raber’s aggravated-murder conviction on August 30, 2010; she was sentenced to a total of 23 years in prison.
What does “Amish Stud” mean in the case?
“Amish Stud” was the online screen name Eli Weaver used while seeking relationships. The appellate opinion says he used a cellular phone he received from Raber to meet women online. The two were members of an Amish community when their relationship began; the case concerns the particular community identified in reporting as Andy Weaver Amish, not Amish communities generally, whose practices differ.

Was Eli Weaver convicted of aggravated murder?
No. Weaver pleaded guilty to complicity murder. Raber was convicted by a jury of aggravated murder, and her conviction was the subject of the appeal described above. The appellate decision concerns Raber’s case; it should not be read as a separate appeal by Weaver.
