Nakatomi Plaza is fictional. The Los Angeles building that stands in for it in Die Hard is Fox Plaza, a private office tower at 2121 Avenue of the Stars in Century City. You can look for its exterior from the surrounding area, but the building itself is not open to the public.
Where is the real Nakatomi Plaza?
It is Fox Plaza, at 2121 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90064. The Los Angeles Conservancy identifies the tower as the building used for Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard. Discover Los Angeles places it in Century City and notes that it can be seen from Century City and the surrounding area.
Fox Plaza is a 34-story corporate building completed in 1986 and designed by Johnson Fain Architects, according to the Los Angeles Conservancy. The published height varies slightly by source: Discover Los Angeles gives 492 feet, while the British Film Institute lists 493 feet. Those figures are reported separately here rather than treated as a single confirmed measurement.
Can you visit Fox Plaza?
You can view the exterior from the surrounding area, but Fox Plaza is a private office building, not a public attraction. Discover Los Angeles says it is not open to the public. Do not expect access to the lobby, offices, or a tour; the available visitor information does not establish a designated viewpoint or current tour offering.

Was Die Hard filmed inside Fox Plaza?
Fox Plaza is the real-world building associated with the film’s fictional tower, but that does not mean every scene was shot inside it. The British Film Institute describes the production’s use of Fox Plaza and notes that the tower was one year old when director John McTiernan and the crew arrived. Its account also clarifies that the apparent damage to the building was created with a scale model—not by destroying the real tower.
