In January 2025 coverage, Natalia was reported to be studying for her GED and taking driving lessons, with a hope of becoming a teacher. Those were plans and activities described in 2025, not verified outcomes or a current update. ABC News Australia likewise reported in March 2025 that Natalia was living with the DePauls and studying for her high-school diploma.
Why did Natalia leave?
Natalia’s account, relayed by TIME, was that the rift began when the Manses tried to limit her internet access because she was communicating with a boyfriend in the United Kingdom. ABC News Australia reported her description of the household as controlling and restrictive about whom she could contact. These are accounts attributed to Natalia, not an independently adjudicated explanation of the dispute.

The falling-out was covered in the January 2025 third season of The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: The Final Chapter. TV Insider’s season coverage also cautions that claims about the Mans family are contested and attributed to witnesses or other reporting. Cynthia Mans was one of Natalia’s adoptive parents in the Mans family, alongside Antwon Mans. Good American Family is a dramatization inspired by Natalia’s story, not a beat-for-beat record. ABC News Australia quoted actor Ellen Pompeo describing the production as “our own version of what this story could have been.” Treat scenes in the drama as dramatization, and attribute disputed claims in documentary coverage to the people or outlets presenting them.
