Where Casey White is incarcerated now
LegalClarity reported on July 2, 2026, that White was at William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama. Treat that as a reported placement rather than a definitive real-time confirmation: the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) says its inmate search covers people currently incarcerated in the state system. ADOC describes Donaldson as a maximum-security prison in Bessemer. For a current individual record, use the live ADOC search.

White pleaded guilty to escape in 2023 and was sentenced to life in prison. That sentence is in addition to the 75-year sentence he was already serving for earlier violent crimes, according to the July 2025 Netflix retrospective and 2026 placement report.
What happened in the 2022 escape
On April 29, 2022, Casey Cole White went missing from Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office custody in Alabama. The U.S. Marshals’ wanted poster identified him as wanted for escape. At the time, he was in county custody awaiting trial in a separate murder case while serving his earlier sentence.

Netflix’s retrospective says Vicky White, then assistant director of operations at the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, told colleagues she was taking Casey to a mental health evaluation and left with him. Netflix says they evaded authorities for 11 days before officers caught up with them in Evansville, Indiana. It also says a secret phone number Vicky had used was in contact with Casey more than 1,000 times over the preceding two years; that figure is Netflix’s account, not a call record independently established here.
What happened to Vicky White and Casey’s case
Netflix’s account says the pursuit ended in a crash and Vicky died after shooting herself. That description is attributed to the documentary’s account rather than presented as an independently verified official finding.

ABC News reported that Casey pleaded guilty to the escape in 2023 and was to be formally sentenced to life on June 8, 2023. The outlet, citing its Huntsville affiliate WAAY, also reported that he apologized to Vicky’s family in court, saying, “It wasn’t supposed to happen like that.”
The separate murder case remains a distinct question
Casey was in Lauderdale County custody awaiting trial on a separate murder case when the escape occurred. The sources cited here do not establish the later disposition of that case. His guilty plea and life sentence for escape should not be taken to mean that the separate case was dismissed, resolved, or replaced by the escape prosecution.
What the documentary adds
Jailbreak: Love on the Run presents the escape through the relationship between Casey and Vicky White. Netflix’s July 17, 2025 account quotes former detention-center inmate Tyler Purser describing Vicky: “She treated everybody like they were somebody.” That is Purser’s personal view, as quoted by Netflix, rather than an official finding about the case.
