The original Halloween cast followed very different paths after the 1978 horror film: Jamie Lee Curtis built a long film career and returned repeatedly as Laurie Strode, while Kyle Richards carried on in reality television and later reprised Lindsey Wallace. Nancy Kyes moved into sculpture and theater teaching before returning to filmmaking. Donald Pleasence and Charles Cyphers, who played Dr. Loomis and Sheriff Brackett, have died—in 1995 and 2024, respectively.
Jamie Lee Curtis: a lasting film career and repeated returns as Laurie
Curtis’s performance as Laurie Strode in the 1978 film became a defining early role. She returned to the character in multiple later Halloween films, including Halloween Ends. In an October 2022 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Curtis discussed her life since the first film, its place in her horror legacy, and her return to Laurie.

Her work has continued beyond the franchise. Parade’s June 21, 2026 retrospective reports that Curtis appeared in The Last Showgirl (2024), Freakier Friday (2025), and The Bear. The original role remains part of a much broader screen career rather than the only chapter of it.
Kyle Richards: from Lindsey Wallace to reality television
Richards played Lindsey Wallace, the child Laurie is asked to watch in the original film. She continued as a cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and returned to the Halloween franchise as Lindsey in Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Before Halloween Kills, Richards told TIME in October 2021 that returning felt surreal: “It’s such a connection to my childhood and so nostalgic for me.”
Nancy Kyes: from acting to sculpture and back to filmmaking
Kyes, credited as Nancy Loomis in Halloween, played Annie Brackett. She later worked as a sculptor and an adjunct professor of theater, then returned to filmmaking in Hauntology (2024), according to Parade’s 2026 retrospective.

P.J. Soles and Brian Andrews: later screen work
P.J. Soles
Soles played Lynda van der Klok. She continued acting and made a cameo as a schoolteacher in the 2018 Halloween film, Parade reports.
Brian Andrews
Andrews played Tommy Doyle, the boy Laurie babysits. Parade reports that he later appeared in The Great Santini, The Long Days of Summer, and Three O’Clock High, and continues promoting Halloween at fan conventions. The convention appearances are reported by Parade.

Donald Pleasence and Charles Cyphers: the actors who have died
Donald Pleasence
Pleasence played Dr. Samuel Loomis, the psychiatrist who pursues Michael Myers. He died in 1995 at age 75 following complications from heart valve replacement surgery, according to Parade’s retrospective.
Charles Cyphers
Cyphers played Sheriff Leigh Brackett. He died in 2024 at age 85, Parade reports. Their characters’ fates in the films are separate from the actors’ real lives: these are the dates of the performers’ deaths.
