The most recent completed season of the U.S. CBS edition of The Amazing Race is Season 38, won by brothers Jas and Jag Bains. Season 39 is still airing, and as of October 8, 2026, CBS’s series page does not name a winner. For earlier champions, the best available picture comes from two dated magazine roundups. Some winning teams are still together, many have built careers in law, medicine, business, media and entertainment, and some have separated. The details below are snapshots from those reports, not confirmed current status.
What this article covers
This guide is about the U.S. CBS edition of the series, which CBS says began in 2001 and currently lists as 39 seasons. It does not cover international versions of the format. How current the updates are
Three sources do most of the work here, and each has a limit you should keep in mind:
- Us Weekly’s winners roundup, updated May 16, 2025, covers winners from the earliest seasons through Season 37. It is the broadest source, but it reflects what was reported as of that date.
- TV Insider’s roundup, dated December 11, 2025, is the more recent retrospective. It confirms the Season 38 winners and adds newer details for some teams, but it gives selected updates rather than a complete list.
- CBS News coverage of Season 29 discusses the win and the winners’ experience together. It does not report later life updates.
Being on the same team during the race does not establish that a partnership lasted. Where a relationship, job, residence or family detail appears below, treat it as a dated report and check a newer source if you need a present-tense claim. The roundups also do not cover every past winner, so the table is a selection, not a census of the series.

Where the reports disagree
When sources differ, the difference is usually a date or a detail that has changed, so both versions are shown above rather than one being picked silently. Three cases stand out:
- The Jih family. Us Weekly placed Tammy at Google and Victor at UCLA. TV Insider placed Tammy at Alphabet and Victor at Wilson Sonsini. Both roles could have changed in the months between the two articles, so confirm the employer before relying on either.
- The Nicksons. The count of children differs between the two sources: four daughters in the May 2025 roundup and five children in the December 2025 roundup.
- The Season 1 winners. TV Insider spells the first winner’s name as Ron Frisbee, while Us Weekly uses Rob Frisbee. The article uses Rob Frisbee, the spelling in the May 2025 roundup, because it is the one that also accompanies occupational details.
The first champions, two decades on
Season 1 is the series’ best-documented case. TV Insider reported that Brennan Swain and Frisbee remained best friends twenty years after their season. In a 2021 social-media reflection on the twentieth anniversary of the race’s final leg, Swain wrote: “Twenty years later, I can look back and realize what a life-changing experience it was.” That reflection is the most direct first-person statement from a winner in the sources reviewed, and it is dated 2021, so it describes his view at that time rather than his view today.
