Spoilers for Season 1, Episode 3. Sa-eon survives an attack at his office, but the danger does not bring him closer to understanding what is happening. Instead, he grows more suspicious of Hee-joo and her friend Sang-woo, while a request for comfort hints at a change in his guarded marriage. The episode ends by widening the threat rather than explaining it.
What happens in Episode 3?
Netflix’s official synopsis says Sa-eon becomes wary of Hee-joo’s relationship with her friend after experiencing an attack, while an ominous figure makes their presence known. The episode carries forward the previous cliffhanger and keeps the danger around the couple unresolved.
In its recap, Ready Steady Cut reports that a flashback shows Sa-eon cutting off a call from Hee-joo, whom he believes to be the kidnapper. Soon afterward, a bomb disguised as a pizza is delivered to his office. CCTV footage exposes the disguise, but it does not give Sa-eon a clear lead on who is behind the attack.
Why does Hee-joo decide to stop the calls?
With the bomber’s identity unknown and Sa-eon’s suspicions extending to both Hee-joo and Sang-woo, Hee-joo decides to end her prank-call scheme. The recap describes her as unable to make sense of how the calls could be connected to the office explosion. Her decision is an attempt to stop an increasingly dangerous situation, not an answer to the mystery.

What changes between Sa-eon and Hee-joo?
After the attack, Sa-eon asks Hee-joo to sleep beside him for comfort. Ready Steady Cut reads the moment as a sign of growing concern, a notable shift from the coldness that has characterized their marriage. It does not settle their suspicions or repair their limited communication, but it gives the episode a quieter emotional turn amid the threat.
What does Hee-joo’s childhood dream reveal?
Hee-joo dreams about her childhood and her mother’s pressure to fake mutism to obtain financial support from the chairman. This memory offers a glimpse of the circumstances behind Hee-joo’s silence and the family pressures that shape her past.

Who is the ominous figure at the end?
The episode’s official synopsis confirms that an ominous figure makes their presence known, but it does not identify the person or explain their motive. Episode 3 leaves that threat open rather than resolving it. Netflix’s listing also points toward Sa-eon’s growing wariness about Hee-joo and Sang-woo, setting up further uncertainty without confirming what Sa-eon knows about the caller.
