She watched from a glass-enclosed suite with Donna Kelce as the Chiefs won 41–10. The appearance was not wholly unplanned: Patrick Mahomes said Travis Kelce told him at the last minute, while a later account described security coordination for Swift’s visit.
When and where did Taylor Swift attend her first Chiefs game?
The game took place on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Swift watched from a glass-enclosed suite alongside Donna Kelce, Travis Kelce’s mother. Kansas City beat Chicago 41–10, according to the Associated Press report from the game.
Why was the appearance described as secret?
Mahomes said he heard at the last minute
Swift attended after an invitation from Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes told the Associated Press, “He told me at the last minute,” referring to when Kelce let him know Swift would be at the game.
Security planning also took place
Chiefs president Mark Donovan later described meetings involving stadium security, police, and NFL security to coordinate safe movement for a major celebrity. The Kansas City Star account establishes logistical and security planning, but it does not establish that the Chiefs ran a formal plan to conceal Swift’s attendance. “In secret” is therefore best understood as limited advance notice to at least some people around the team, alongside privacy and safety arrangements.

Was this her first time at Arrowhead Stadium?
No. Swift had performed at Arrowhead in July 2023 during The Eras Tour. Those were concerts, not attendance at a Chiefs football game. Her September visit was her first reported appearance at a Chiefs home game. The Chiefs’ announcement of the Arrowhead Eras Tour concerts identifies that earlier visit as a concert engagement.

Swift’s next reported Chiefs game appearance came the following week, when Kansas City played the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. NFL.com’s report on the Jets game covers that later appearance; it was an away game, not another visit to Arrowhead.
