Thunderbolts* tickets were already on sale well before the film opened on May 2, 2025, so there is no upcoming sale to wait for. The official listings confirm that sales were open, but they do not record the exact day or hour that advance sales first began.
Thunderbolts* was already on sale before its May 2025 release
By the time the ticketing and studio pages were checked, Thunderbolts* was listed as on sale. Fandango lists the US theatrical release as Friday, May 2, 2025, and Disney’s official movie page labels tickets as on sale. Because that release date is more than a year in the past, the question is historical: when did the presales open, and can that be confirmed?

What the official sources establish
- Release date: Fandango gives Friday, May 2, 2025 for the US release.
- Simultaneous Japan release: Marvel Japan’s announcement dated February 10, 2025 gives May 2, 2025 as the theatrical date and describes a simultaneous US and Japan opening.
- Sale status: Disney’s Movies page shows tickets as on sale. It does not give a date for when sales started.
What the sources do not establish
No reviewed official page gives the day or time that advance tickets first opened. The Fandango and Disney listings show status, not an announcement timestamp. Individual theater chains, international markets and formats could each have opened sales on different schedules, and those schedules are not documented in the sources available here.
Fan discussion about a specific hour should be treated as anecdote. Posts asking what time tickets would go on sale show that people were watching for the opening, but they do not establish the actual time, and no specific hour should be quoted as fact.

Key dates at a glance
| Item | Date | Source and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Marvel Japan announcement | February 10, 2025 | Gives May 2, 2025 as the theatrical date and a simultaneous US and Japan release |
| US theatrical release | Friday, May 2, 2025 | Fandango listing |
| Ticket status | On sale (start date not stated) | Disney Movies page; no sale-opening date given |
| Blu-ray/DVD and 4K UHD (Japan) | September 10, 2025 | Marvel Japan listing; applies to the Japanese editions named there |
The home-media date does not bear on ticket timing. It is included only to show when the film’s physical editions arrived in Japan.
How to find the actual presale date for a past release
- Start with the studio’s own announcements from late 2024 to early 2025, looking for a press release that names the presale start.
- Check the archived versions of the ticketing listing for the market you care about, since sale dates were set per market and per theater chain.
- Look at news coverage from the period, comparing several outlets so a single unverified report is not taken as settled.
- If a theater chain confirms the date, use that answer for that chain only, not for the whole country.
Bottom line
Tickets for Thunderbolts* were on sale ahead of its May 2, 2025 release, and that is the part the official listings support. The exact opening time of advance sales is not documented in the sources reviewed here, so any specific hour you see online should be checked against a dated announcement before it is repeated.
