Can you buy F1: The Movie on the Apple TV app?
Yes. Apple announced the film’s premium video-on-demand and digital-purchase rollout for August 22, 2025, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. Its October announcement named the Apple TV app, Amazon Prime Video, and Fandango at Home among the participating purchase platforms. Retailer availability can vary by country, so the announcement is not a guarantee that every platform sells the film in every region. Apple’s release announcement and October streaming announcement provide the release chronology.

Buying the film is different from streaming it with Apple TV
A digital purchase is a one-time transaction through a participating retailer. Apple TV subscription access is a separate route: Apple announced that the film began streaming globally on Apple TV on December 12, 2025. Apple’s current U.S. title page says an Apple TV subscription is required to watch it there. A subscription does not mean you have purchased the film, and a digital purchase is not the same as subscribing. Check the terms and availability shown by your local storefront before paying. Apple’s U.S. title page describes its subscription option.

Where else can you watch it, and what devices work?
Apple named Amazon Prime Video and Fandango at Home, alongside the Apple TV app and other participating platforms, for digital purchase. This list reflects the retailers in Apple’s October 2025 announcement; it is not a complete, current regional availability list. Search your local services to confirm whether the film is offered and whether the listing is for purchase or subscription streaming.
You do not need Apple hardware to use the Apple TV app. Apple says it can be downloaded on compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, phones, tablets, and computers, and that viewers can also watch at tv.apple.com. Compatibility depends on the device and its support for the app. Apple’s device guidance lists supported ways to access it.

What to know about the film
Apple lists the runtime as 155 minutes and the U.S. rating as PG-13 for strong language and action. Brad Pitt plays veteran driver Sonny Hayes, who returns to Formula 1 to help a struggling team; Damson Idris plays rookie teammate Joshua Pearce. The story is a fictional racing drama, not a documentary. Apple says filming took place at actual Formula 1 events during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, including at Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Silverstone, and Suzuka. Apple’s film information page gives the listed runtime, rating, and synopsis; its release page describes the production.

Apple reported more than $629 million in worldwide box office for the film in its October 13, 2025 announcement. That is Apple’s reported figure from that date, not a current sales update. The same announcement reported that F1 The Album had sold more than 650,000 albums worldwide and received over one billion global streams; those are separate soundtrack figures, not measures of film purchases or viewing.

For a purchase decision, the important unknowns are local: the current price, whether the film is available for purchase in your country, and which formats the retailer includes. Apple’s announcements do not provide a current country-by-country price or format list. Confirm those details on the specific store listing before choosing between purchase and subscription access.
