Sameer Wankhede denied leaking WhatsApp chats involving Shah Rukh Khan, saying he had submitted the material as evidence in a writ petition before the Bombay High Court. That account comes from Mid-day’s 9 October 2025 report of an interview Wankhede gave to HT City; the report does not reproduce the court filing or independently establish how the chats became public.
What did Wankhede say about the chats?
Asked about the allegation that he leaked the messages, Wankhede said he had presented them to the court as evidence. Mid-day quoted him as saying: “I will tell you what the fact is. There was a writ petition which I had filed before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. In that writ I had to present some evidence in front of the court. So why will I ‘leak’ it? I will bring it to the Hon’ble Court.”
Mid-day also reported that Wankhede said he had submitted a Section 65B certificate with the material. The report does not include the certificate, explain its contents, or provide the petition for independent review.
Did he deny animosity with Shah Rukh Khan?
Yes. In the interview as reported by Mid-day, Wankhede denied having animosity with Khan, saying: “There is none…” This is Wankhede’s stated position; the report does not independently establish the nature of their relationship.

What is the context of the dispute?
Mid-day placed the interview amid Wankhede’s defamation case concerning Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Wankhede alleges that a character in the series resembles and defames him. The report describes this as his allegation, not as a finding by a court.
The report also recounts Aryan Khan’s 2021 arrest and says he received a clean chit in 2022. That background does not resolve the separate question of who disclosed the chats or how they entered public circulation.

What is—and is not—established by the report?
The report records Wankhede’s denial and his explanation that he took the material to court. It does not identify the complete contents of the conversations, reproduce the writ petition, establish who first made the chats public, or provide the case’s current procedural status. The interview therefore presents his account of the alleged leak, rather than an independent determination of it.
