The available sources do not establish what the family is doing today or whether Casey and Ethan are still together. Anyone claiming a current update should be checked against a recent statement from the family itself.
What the series covered
Quints by Surprise documented the Jones household: two parents raising six children, among them quintuplets. The premise was built around the arrival of the quints and the day-to-day work of keeping a large family running. A secondary series reference page names the family and their six children, but it is used here only as background. Where its dates differ from the parents’ own account of the filming period, this article follows the parents.
How the show’s run was described
In an interview with Austin Family Magazine, published around 2015 under the headline “Keeping Up with the Joneses,” the couple explained how a local production company approached them after the quintuplets were born. Casey said the company was interested in a family show. Ethan said the production ran 26 episodes over five years and that the final special focused on the quints’ fifth birthday.
Those figures come from the parents, in a single interview, and they describe the filming period rather than the broadcast schedule. They are the most direct account the available sources offer of how the series ended.

Did TLC plan more episodes?
A post on the family’s JonesLife blog, written when the show returned for a third season, shows that the family did not know whether TLC would order more episodes. Ethan wrote: “As of right now we have no idea if there will be more episodes of the Quints By Surprise.”
That post reflects what the family knew at the time it was written. It is not an explanation of why the series ended, and it should not be read as a cancellation statement.

What is not established today
Three questions come up most often, and the sources answer none of them reliably.
- Current life of the family. No recent, first-hand statement from the Joneses was found in the available sources describing where the children are now or what the parents are doing.
- Relationship status. Casey and Ethan’s marriage is not confirmed as continuing or ending. The only quoted statement, from the Austin Family Magazine interview, is “We do! We’re still married!” It was said during the interview and describes the couple at that point, not today.
- Reasons for leaving television. No source confirms why the show stopped. A 2025 article from Familinx makes claims about the children’s high-school activities, the parents’ relationship and the family’s reasons for leaving television. Those claims are not supported by independent or primary confirmation, so they should be treated as unverified.
Old blog posts and social-media interpretations do not fill this gap. A divorce, a separation or a deliberate decision to stop filming to protect the children are not established by the available evidence.

Where to watch the series
Philo lists Quints by Surprise in its catalog, with an episode page for “S3E5 – A Day in the Life,” and identifies Ethan and Casey Jones in the cast. That listing shows the series is catalogued, but it does not confirm current availability in every region or under every subscription plan. Check the catalog directly before subscribing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to look for a newer update
- Search the JonesLife blog for posts dated after the final special. Sort by most recent, since older entries describe earlier periods.
- Check the family’s own social accounts and any new interview from them. A statement from Casey or Ethan carries more weight than a secondhand summary.
- Look for a dated primary source. An article without a named family quote or a verifiable date should not be treated as confirmation.
If a recent statement appears, compare it against the 26-episode, five-year account the parents gave earlier, since later accounts may describe the show differently.
