Milo, Stanley Ipkiss’s Jack Russell Terrier in The Mask (1994), was played by a dog credited as Max. Max has one later screen credit listed, in Mr. Accident (2000), but his life after that is largely undocumented. No confirmed death date or final whereabouts have been established.
Who played Milo in The Mask?
Milo is the fictional dog who helps Stanley Ipkiss, played by Jim Carrey. The dog credited with playing him was Max, a Jack Russell Terrier. A contemporary review also identified Max as Milo’s performer. The Mask film reference and The Daily Iowan review support the identification.

Milo’s actions in the movie—including wearing the mask during the climax and swimming away with it at the end—belong to the story, not to Max’s real-life biography.
What other films was Max in?
Max’s listed screen credits include Mom and Dad Save the World (1992), The Mask (1994), and Mr. Accident (2000). The last of those means The Mask was not his final listed film appearance. A filmography, however, cannot establish where Max lived or what happened to him afterward. IMDb’s Max profile lists these credits.

What happened to Max after his acting career?
The accessible record does not establish Max’s date of birth, exact age during filming, later home, or date of death. IMDb’s biography says his later life became less documented and describes his passing as a mystery. It presents an early-2000s death as an assumption, not a confirmed fact. That timing should not be repeated as a verified date. IMDb’s biography of Max is the source of that uncertain account.
The biography also attributes a comment about casting challenges to Max’s owner, Joe McCarter. That is a database-reported attribution; it does not establish further details about Max’s life.
