What did Wendy’s say about Katy Perry?
After an X post announced that Perry had returned from space, Wendy’s account replied, “Can we send her back?” Parade reported that the account also posted a second joke: “When we said ‘women in STEM,’ this isn’t what we meant.” The posts followed Perry’s flight aboard Blue Origin on April 14, 2025. How did Wendy’s respond to criticism?
Wendy’s later gave media outlets this statement: “We always bring a little spice to our socials, but Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world talent.” Parade reported that the statement was given to Rolling Stone on April 17, 2025. Inside Edition quoted a shortened version in its April 18 report.
The statement affirmed respect for Perry but did not include an apology. That describes the quoted response; it does not establish what Wendy’s may have said in other contexts.

Why did the exchange go viral?
Wendy’s remarks were sharp jokes from a corporate account about a high-profile celebrity’s spaceflight. Inside Edition reported that the “Can we send her back” post had 1.9 million views and 52,000 likes as of its April 18, 2025 story. Those figures are a snapshot from that report, not current engagement totals.
