What was Heidi Klum’s 2025 Halloween costume?
Klum’s character was Medusa, the figure from Greek mythology whose gaze turns people to stone. The Associated Press reported that she unveiled the costume at the Hard Rock Hotel New York during her annual Halloween party on October 31, 2025. ABC/GMA also identified the event as her 24th annual party.
Klum told the AP she wanted to be “really, really like a really ugly, ugly Medusa,” adding, “And I feel like we nailed it – to the teeth.”
What did the Medusa transformation look like?
The finished look combined green scales, intricate body paint and a sculpted headpiece crowded with snakes. Vogue described the costume as hand-painted and reported that mechanical snakes atop Klum’s head moved independently. Klum told Vogue, “I love that all of the snakes move independently—they look so real,” and noted that the design included a custom split snake tongue. ABC/GMA likewise described the elaborate body paint, snake-covered headpiece and shimmering green scales.

How was the costume made?
This was a custom special-effects production involving artist Mike Marino and a larger team, not a documented off-the-shelf costume or consumer makeup kit. Vogue reported that more than 15 people worked on the look over six months. Klum said she began discussing the idea around April.
Vogue reported that Klum spent nine hours in the makeup chair. The Associated Press separately reported her statement that getting into costume took 10 hours. Those figures describe the preparation differently, so they should not be treated as a single agreed measurement.

Why did Klum choose Medusa?
Klum told Vogue that she wanted to revisit classic monsters in a contemporary way: “I wanted to explore the classic monsters of history, and reimagine one in a modern way.” She described Medusa as “iconic—mysterious yet ferocious” and said she loved the myth and the challenge of making the character more elaborate. She also told Vogue, “I look forward to Halloween all year.”
