He shared the remark on the September 25, 2024 episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, as reported by PinkNews the next day.
What did Travis Kelce say about appearing in Grotesquerie?
On New Heights, Kelce said: “I cannot wait to see everybody’s reaction to me being in a mystery thriller. Kinda scary. What the f*** is going on? It’ll get you thinking now.” PinkNews quoted the remark in its September 26, 2024 report about his acting debut: PinkNews’ report on Kelce’s Grotesquerie role.
What character does Kelce play?
Kelce plays Ed Laclan. FX describes his appearance in episode three as his first scripted series credit and says Ed has a dreamy encounter with Detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash-Betts. FX’s cast listing gives the character’s name as “Ed Laclan”; a separate behind-the-scenes page uses the alternate spelling “Lachlan” in its description. The cast listing is the clearest source for the credited character name.

How did Kelce get the role?
In the same PinkNews report, Ryan Murphy said he had a part in mind and offered to write and tailor it for Kelce. Murphy told the outlet he said: “Well, I have this one part and if you’re interested I will specifically write it and tailor it for you”. PinkNews also reported that Murphy had said he would keep Kelce in mind for future projects; Kelce responded that he wanted to act right away and had three months available.
Is Grotesquerie part of American Horror Story?
No. Grotesquerie is an FX horror drama from Ryan Murphy, but it is not an installment of American Horror Story. The Associated Press reported that a network spokesperson clarified the distinction when the cast was announced in May 2024. The Associated Press’ cast-announcement report includes that clarification.
