For a contained wedding mystery, try The Perfect Couple; for espionage, Slow Horses; for unscripted wilderness strategy, Outlast season 2; for a rural investigation, The Jetty; and for dramatized historical crime, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. These five picks appeared in PerthNow’s Australian watch roundup on 31 August 2024, so its streaming listings are a dated snapshot—not a guide to what is available today.

What each title offers
The Perfect Couple: a wedding with a murder at its center
This six-episode Netflix adaptation is based on Elin Hilderbrand’s novel. Amelia Sacks is about to marry into a wealthy Nantucket family when a body is found near the wedding. The guests’ social ties and possible motives give the story its ensemble-whodunit setup. If you want to compare the screen version with its source, the book is identified by Netflix as Hilderbrand’s novel.

Slow Horses: a continuing espionage story
The 2024 roundup presented the returning spy team as investigating a case involving River and his grandfather, with Hugo Weaving joining the cast. This is the pick for viewers who want an ongoing spy drama rather than a standalone mystery.
Outlast season 2: survival depends on the group
The competition places contestants in the Alaskan wilderness and puts team play at the heart of the attempt to win a share of a million-dollar prize. Choose it for unscripted strategy and survival challenges rather than scripted crime or suspense.
#1 Best Overall
- Movie dvd
The Jetty: a rural investigation with intersecting threads
Jenna Coleman’s rural police officer connects a fire with a missing-person case and an illicit relationship involving underage girls. Its appeal is the investigation’s linked strands, not the competitive or ensemble format of the other picks.
Fight Night: crime drama tied to a historic night
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is a fictionalized crime miniseries connected to a 2020 true-crime podcast. Its robbery is set on the night Muhammad Ali made his 1970 comeback fight. Peacock’s official series page provides episode summaries; this is dramatized storytelling, not a documentary.
