In a 2024 teaser for Tia Mowry: My Next Act, Tia Mowry said she wished she and her twin sister Tamera were still close enough for her to call during a lonely period after her divorce. She later clarified that she was talking about how siblings’ family responsibilities and availability change as they grow up—not announcing a permanent estrangement. Tia said the sisters love each other and share a beautiful connection.
What Tia said in the docuseries teaser
ABC News reported on September 23, 2024, that the teaser for Tia Mowry: My Next Act showed Tia reflecting on the loneliness she experienced after her divorce. “Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” she said.
She then connected that feeling to her relationship with Tamera: “It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.” In that moment, “close” referred to being able to reach her sister for support. The teaser captured an emotional reflection; by itself, it did not establish a permanent estrangement or a feud.
How Tia clarified the remark
In a Us Weekly interview published September 24, 2024, Tia explained that she meant siblings can become less accessible as they grow up, start families, and take on new roles and responsibilities. She described those changing demands as the context for wishing she and Tamera could connect as readily as before.

Tia also directly affirmed their relationship: “I love my sister very much. She loves me very much.” She described the sisters as having “a closeness and a beautiful connection.” Her clarification is the clearest reported account of what she intended by the teaser comment.

ABC News also summarized Tamera’s earlier comments to Entertainment Tonight. Tamera said she learned about Tia’s show when the public did and that Tia had not asked her to appear. She said she respected Tia’s decision to tell her own story: “She’s like, ‘This is my story,’ and you know, I can only respect that.” ABC’s account does not report Tamera accusing Tia of shutting her out.
What the reports establish—and what they don’t
E! News reported in September 2024 that an unnamed source attributed the sisters’ reduced day-to-day closeness to their geographic locations. That explanation belongs to the unnamed source; Tia’s own later explanation emphasized changing family roles and availability.
The available reports document Tia’s 2024 teaser remark and her follow-up clarification. They do not verify the sisters’ private relationship as of October 2026, so the teaser should not be treated as proof that they are currently estranged—or as independent confirmation of their present-day closeness.
