The scene’s absurd horse transformation gives the footage its comic centerpiece, while the pursuit keeps the danger in view.
What happens in the Venom Horse scene?
In the scene described by Gizmodo’s October 19, 2024 report, Eddie and Venom are on the run in the desert when they find an unattended horse. Venom takes it over, and the horse gallops across the terrain with Eddie being dragged along. Popverse’s on-site account adds the line “Surprise, Horsey!” and describes the pair racing across mesas.
The ride leads to a river and a military attack. Venom is separated from Eddie, then escapes by taking over nearby animals. Popverse specifies that Venom briefly occupies a fish and then a frog. The escape unfolds amid a confrontation involving a large alien creature, so the scene moves from slapstick to danger rather than remaining a gag.
Why did the transformation become the comic centerpiece?
The humor comes from the contrast: Venom, an imposing alien symbiote, commandeers an ordinary horse, while Eddie is left being pulled along for the ride. Popverse’s “Surprise, Horsey!” line makes the moment’s playful tone explicit. The sequence then escalates into pursuit, separation and an alien attack, giving the comedy a chaotic setting with real peril.

What was the giant alien creature?
The convention-footage accounts describe a large alien creature attacking soldiers, but do not establish its identity. Popverse characterized it as a six-legged, spider-meets-scorpion-like creature and reported that some viewers speculated it could be a film version of the Xenophages. That was speculation, not a confirmed identification in the footage report.
What was shown at NYCC, and when?
Gizmodo reported that Sony screened the full scene at its New York Comic Con panel. Popverse’s October 20, 2024 account reported that Tom Hardy, writer-director Kelly Marcel, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor appeared at the event. At the time of that report, the film was scheduled to debut on October 24, 2024; those are historical event and release dates, not an upcoming screening.
