A contemporaneous report describes an icy Imperial base, snowtroopers, an AT-ST and two AT-ATs—but its suggestion that the world looks like Hoth is a visual comparison, not a confirmed location.
What the D23 footage reportedly showed
Germain Lussier’s August 10, 2024, account for Gizmodo describes a convention presentation, not a publicly released full clip or an official shot-by-shot synopsis. The sequence began with a montage from The Mandalorian showing Din Djarin meeting Grogu. New narration characterized Grogu as Din’s apprentice and Din as a bounty hunter who has to be selective about the jobs he accepts.
The footage then reportedly showed Din entering a bar and shooting several people. A view of the Razor Crest in flight followed, along with a cockpit shot featuring Zeb Orrelios.
Why the preview was described as “cold as ice”
The headline’s icy image comes from the longest action passage in Lussier’s description. Din enters a base on a frozen world. Inside and around it, the account places Grogu crawling through tunnels as Imperial mouse droids move through the base and snowtroopers patrol.

Din climbs onto an AT-ST moving through snow-covered mountains. He and the walker tumble down a hill; at the bottom, Din lands at the feet of two AT-AT walkers. The report says the setting looks as if it could be Hoth. That is the reporter’s visual impression: the account does not identify the world as Hoth.
The described footage closes on Grogu in a small space with two Anzellans, the species associated in the story with Babu Frik.
