Marvel released the first full trailer for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on December 29, 2024. It introduces a high-school Peter Parker still learning how to be a superhero: he wears a homemade suit, slips away from class to stop a crime, and gets help from Norman Osborn, who offers guidance and a new suit. The animated series was announced as a 10-episode Disney+ series scheduled to debut January 29, 2025.
When the trailer arrived and what it announced
Engadget reported on December 29, 2024, that Marvel had released the first trailer and described the series as a 10-episode animated show scheduled for Disney+ on January 29, 2025. Those dates and the episode count reflect the contemporaneous announcement, not a guarantee of present-day availability in every region. Engadget’s December 29, 2024 trailer coverage reported the schedule. Disney UK Press also listed an official trailer-and-key-art announcement in its press sitemap.
What happens in the trailer
The trailer’s early scenes make Peter’s inexperience part of the story. He is late for school and gets hit by a car while running. Later, he sneaks out of class to intervene when he sees a crime. His suit is homemade, and the criminals mock it; the Motion Picture Association’s January 2, 2025 account quotes Peter asking, “Is my suit really that bad?”
That awkwardness sits alongside the familiar impulse to help. The Motion Picture Association describes Peter as a kid whose defining qualities are goodness and youth, and notes that the trailer opens with the theme from the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon. The combination signals a story about a young hero in the making rather than a polished, established crime-fighter.

How this Peter differs from the familiar live-action setup
A high-school hero still finding his footing
Peter is shown balancing school with improvised crime-fighting, and the trailer emphasizes the practical problems of starting out: a suit that draws ridicule and the need to learn on the job. Engadget characterizes the animation as classic-comic inspired and says the story departs from the MCU version originally associated with the project. That is the outlet’s description; the trailer coverage does not establish a broader continuity ruling.
Norman Osborn, not Tony Stark, as the mentor
Norman Osborn appears as a supportive mentor who helps Peter with a new suit. The Motion Picture Association contrasts that arrangement with the Tony Stark mentorship in the recent live-action films. The shift changes the setup presented in this series: Peter’s guidance and equipment come from Osborn, rather than from the live-action films’ familiar mentor figure.

A visual nod to classic Spider-Man comics
The trailer coverage points to a classic-comic look, while Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum described the project in an interview reported by Toonado as “very much like a cut from that Steve Ditko era of the comics.” Winderbaum’s reported description also places Peter back in high school, trying to care for his aunt and make ends meet while being a superhero. The trailer’s homemade suit and school-day interruptions support that early-career emphasis without establishing that the series reproduces any particular comic storyline.
