Smile 2 turns pop stardom into part of its horror story: its protagonist, fictional global pop sensation Skye Riley, is preparing for a world tour as inexplicable events and the pressures of fame close in. Paramount’s official trailer description says she must confront her dark past as the horrors escalate. The studio’s YouTube listing calls its October 15, 2024 upload the “Final Trailer”; that label does not establish that it remains the latest trailer today.
What is the Smile 2 trailer about?
The trailer follows Skye Riley as her public life and private terror begin to collide. Paramount’s official film synopsis describes her as a global pop sensation preparing for a world tour, then links the escalating inexplicable events around her to the pressures of fame and her dark past. The trailer description puts the premise this way: “Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and pressures of fame, she must confront her dark past before her life spirals out of control.” That is Paramount Pictures’ promotional copy, not a quote attributed to an individual speaker.
The contrast is the source of the “terror of pop stardom” reading: Skye is facing a major career moment, but the spectacle and demands surrounding her do not protect her from what is happening. The studio materials establish that juxtaposition; they do not identify a real celebrity as a model or present the film as a diagnosis of real-world pop-star culture.
Who is Skye Riley in Smile 2?
Skye Riley is the fictional singer at the center of the film. Naomi Scott plays her. In the official setup, Skye is globally famous and about to embark on a world tour, while facing escalating horrors connected with a dark past. These details make fame central to the story’s situation, rather than evidence that the character is based on a particular real performer.
