In a prison interview featured in Peacock’s 2024 documentary Face to Face with Scott Peterson, Scott Peterson described memories from the last day he says he saw his wife, Laci, alive. Those recollections are his account—not independently established facts—and do not change the legal outcome: Peterson was convicted in 2004 of murdering Laci and their unborn child and was later sentenced to life without parole.
What Scott Peterson said about the last day he saw Laci
A People exclusive published August 13, 2024, focused on Peterson’s memories of the day he says he last saw Laci alive. The article’s headline referred to “little things that are still with me,” but the available reporting does not provide a verified verbatim passage to reproduce here. His recollections should therefore be understood as statements he made in an interview, not as an independently confirmed account of the day.

Peterson continues to deny involvement in the murders. An interview can present his account and perspective; it does not itself establish what happened or overturn a conviction.
What is the documentary called, and where did it premiere?
The series is Face to Face with Scott Peterson, a three-part Peacock documentary that premiered August 20, 2024. Forbes reported before its release that it would feature Peterson’s first on-camera interview in more than 20 years, alongside interviews with people connected to the case. Apple TV’s episode listing dates the first episode, “Where Is Laci Peterson?”, to August 20, 2024.

Oxygen’s 2024 launch-era guide identified interviewees including director Shareen Anderson, Peterson’s sister-in-law Janey Peterson, former lead detective Al Brocchini, detective Jon Buehler, former defense attorney Lara Yeretsian, and former ABC News producer Mike Gudgell. That is the reported lineup for the series at launch; it should not be read as a statement about current streaming availability.
The case outcome behind Peterson’s account
Peterson was convicted in 2004 of murdering Laci Peterson and their unborn child. His death sentence was later overturned, and he was resentenced to life without the possibility of parole. These are the relevant legal outcomes; the documentary interview does not alter them.

In March 2024, the Associated Press reported that Peterson appeared in court as the Los Angeles Innocence Project sought new DNA testing and access to evidence related to a nearby burglary. The defense raised a theory involving that burglary, but it was a defense theory—not a finding established by the court. That 2024 report does not establish the status of later litigation.

Face to Face with Scott Peterson is distinct from Netflix’s three-part American Murder: Laci Peterson, released around the same period. The Peacock series centers on conversations with Peterson and others connected to his case. TV Insider reported that the Netflix series featured Amber Frey, who cooperated with law enforcement. The titles, platforms, and participants should not be conflated.

What the interview can—and cannot—tell viewers
- It presents Peterson’s perspective: His memories and denial are his claims, not proof that independently resolves contested facts.
- It sits alongside a conviction: The series is a documentary interview, not a legal proceeding or reversal of the court’s outcome.
- Its launch details are dated: The cited release and episode information concerns August 2024; current catalog availability and later case developments are not established here.
