Her quip was not evidence that she caused Adams’s indictment.
What did Sabrina Carpenter say at Madison Square Garden?
Carpenter performed at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, September 29, 2024, as part of her Short n’ Sweet tour, with Amaarae as special guest, according to the venue’s event listing.
Addressing the crowd, she quipped: “Damn, what now? Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted, or…” Access Hollywood reported the line the next day. In context, it was a joke playing on public speculation about her “Feather” video, not a literal admission or a verified account of how investigators opened their case.
What was Eric Adams indicted for?
On September 26, 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced that a federal indictment charged Adams with bribery, campaign-finance, and conspiracy offenses. Those were allegations made by prosecutors, not findings of guilt. The Department of Justice announcement describes the charges at that time; it does not establish the later status of the case.

Did the “Feather” video lead to the indictment?
The available reporting does not establish that Carpenter’s video caused Adams’s indictment. In November 2024, the Associated Press reported that a church inquiry launched after controversy over the video uncovered unauthorized transfers by Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello to Frank Carone, a former Adams aide. AP also reported that neither Gigantiello nor Carone had been accused of wrongdoing in the federal investigation described in its article.
That report documents a limited investigative thread connected to the church inquiry. It does not show that the video triggered the federal case or led prosecutors to indict Adams. The distinction matters: a joke about the speculation is not proof of the speculation.
