In an interview reported on April 6, 2024, Ryan Anderson said his separation from Gypsy Rose Blanchard had come “out of the blue” from his perspective and that he was “really not doing well at all.” Those were his words at the time—not a report on his current wellbeing or an independent account of why the relationship ended.
What did Ryan Anderson say after the separation announcement?
Blanchard announced in late March 2024 that she and Anderson were separating. In comments to the Daily Mail reported on April 6, Anderson said he had not spoken with her and did not know what was happening. He described himself as “at a loss” and said, “I’m really not doing well at all.” E! News reported his remarks, as did News24.
Anderson also said, “For me, it just came out of the blue.” That describes how the split felt to him; it does not establish a shared explanation for the separation or verify why the couple decided to part.
How did his other comments differ?
Anderson’s Daily Mail interview was separate from a video he posted on April 5. E! News reported that he thanked supporters and said he was “just living my life.” News24 also reported that he thanked people who had reached out and spoke about a Lifetime project, quoting him as saying, “Y’all will see what really happened on Lifetime. We were filming a lot, so stay tuned for that.” The video comments and the interview are distinct communications, not a single statement.

What was the timeline?
- 2022: Blanchard and Anderson married while she was incarcerated, according to News24.
- Late March 2024: Blanchard announced their separation. In a statement reproduced by News24, she said she had moved in with her parents and needed time to find herself.
- April 5, 2024: Anderson posted the video thanking supporters and discussing the Lifetime project.
- April 6, 2024: Reports of his Daily Mail interview quoted him describing the split as unexpected from his perspective and saying he was not doing well.
- April 8, 2024: News24 reported, citing People, that Blanchard filed for divorce that day. That was subsequent context, not part of Anderson’s interview.
What does “not doing well” establish?
It establishes how Anderson described himself in the interview reported in April 2024. It is not a clinical assessment, and the coverage does not establish his present emotional state or current relationship circumstances. News24’s divorce update attributes the filing information to People; it does not reproduce the underlying court filing. The quoted interview and video remarks here are reported by secondary outlets, rather than independently verified against the original interview or posts.
