The “big GTA launch” in HotHardware’s November 4, 2024 report was a planned December update for GTA Online, the online component of Grand Theft Auto V—not the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. The announcement described a Darnell Bros. Garment Factory revamp that would serve as a base for new robberies, alongside additional activities and vehicle content.
What Rockstar was planning to launch
HotHardware reported that Rockstar planned an “exciting new update” for GTA Online in December 2024. Its centerpiece was a revamped Darnell Bros. Garment Factory in Los Santos, which the report said would become a base for new robberies. HotHardware characterized those planned missions as “thrilling and strategic new robberies”; these are the publication’s descriptions, not an attributed quotation from a named Rockstar representative.
The report also listed several other planned additions:
- More Dispatch Work.
- New equipment.
- Mods for militarized vehicles.
- A vehicle equipped with a Collectible Scanner.
The accessible report does not establish whether every announced feature was ultimately released or whether it remains available now. The linked Rockstar Games Newswire page is titled GTA Online Community Update, but its body was not accessible for independent confirmation of the details reported by HotHardware.

Why the headline says to forget GTA 6
The headline uses GTA 6 as a point of contrast, but the planned launch was GTA Online content for GTA V. It was not an announcement of GTA 6’s release date or a separate new Grand Theft Auto game. GTA Online is the online component of Grand Theft Auto V, so the December 2024 plan concerned an update to that existing game.
What the report said about PC features
HotHardware also noted that, at the time of its report, console versions had features it said were not then available on PC: HDR, ray tracing, improved texture quality, faster loading, immersive 3D audio, and platform-specific features. It reported that a set of PC technical features was expected “in the new year.” That was a forecast made in 2024; it does not establish which features PC players can use today.

Readers checking present-day availability should consult current platform-specific product information rather than treating the 2024 comparison or forecast as current. The report’s historical feature list is not evidence that every console feature was planned for PC, or that the forecast was fulfilled.

The November 4, 2024 HotHardware story is useful as a record of what Rockstar was reported to be planning for December of that year. Its main takeaway is the distinction between a GTA Online update and GTA 6: a new robbery base and related content were the subject, not a new numbered game. For current release details or platform support, rely on up-to-date Rockstar and platform information rather than the dated announcement.
